Saved by Grace: Understanding the Gift of God
Shared by Nomasonto Tuturu at Harvest House International Church, this message explores why Christians are saved by grace, not by works, and how embracing this truth transforms life on Earth and beyond.
The Gift of Grace
Salvation cannot be earned through deeds, prayers, or rituals. Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Faith, not performance, opens the door to a relationship with God. Romans 3:28 further clarifies that justification comes “apart from works of the law,” affirming the liberating truth that grace is the foundation of Christian life.
Freedom from the Law
The law was never intended as the path to salvation. Colossians 2:13-14 states: “And you, who were dead in your trespasses… God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”
Christ’s sacrifice frees believers from legalistic bondage. Galatians 5:1 exhorts: “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”
Life in Abundance
Grace transforms not only our eternal destiny but also our earthly experience. John 10:10 promises: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
3 John 1:2 highlights holistic well-being: “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” Philippians 4:19 assures provision: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Forgiveness and Freedom
Romans 5:8 declares: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Forgiveness liberates believers from guilt, enabling them to walk boldly in life. Romans 8:1 confirms: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
This freedom is practical, shaping decisions, relationships, and the way Christians see themselves as loved and valued.
Walking in Grace Daily
Grace calls for a response of love, service, and integrity—not to earn salvation, but to reflect it. 2 Corinthians 5:7 reminds: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
1 John 4:19-21 links love to faith: “We love because he first loved us… Whoever says ‘I love God’ and hates his brother is a liar.” Every blessing comes from God (James 1:17), and living in this awareness transforms ordinary days into opportunities to honor Him.
